Joel Nystrom Resignation
It is with great regret that we announce the acceptance of Joel Nystrom’s resignation from the F.A.S.T. Board of Directors. Joel was a positive asset in organizing and managing F.A.S.T. over the past 5 years. His focus and dedication to F.A.S.T. will be missed. It was Joel’s desire to step down from the F.A.S.T. Board in order to devote more time to his business and family.
The F.A.S.T. Board would like to thank Joel for all his hard work and true friendship.
The F.A.S.T. Board has reassigned Joel’s duties and will operate with the remaining three Board Members.

Re: Joel Nystrom Resignation
I have alot of respect for my friend Joel.It takes alot of character to bow out.I hope if I had real life problems I would be wise enough to make that decision to take a break from something I love to take care of business. You can't go down with the ship.
We will be here when you get back Joel

Re: Joel Nystrom Resignation
Thanks for all the kind words of support!
Taking the year off of racing was a hard decision, but resigning from the F.A.S.T. Board was REALLY REALLY tuff.
Working with Dave, Greg and Terry, was both challenging and rewarding, and I am very proud of what we accomplished. With the support of the racers, fans and sponsors, we took F.A.S.T. racing from nothing all the way to a nationally recognized race series.
Starting with many different attitudes and ideas of what a stock appearing drag series should be like, and an eclectic collection of strong personalities all seeing things their own way, we somehow came to share a common vision for F.A.S.T. racing. As the vision gelled, we came up with the very unique and successful race format, and a set of rules that everybody could dig. For about a year. The rules then had to be rewritten at least a couple times to help clarify them, but the overall vision always remained a constant. When the cars started hitting 11.50's the safety equipment issue was a major hurdle. Should we slow the cars down, or should allow non-stock appearing safety equipment? And we had some battles to fight. Then there was the move to attract more sponsors to provide more and better prizes and get decent tracks with cheap entry fees. And setting up the website, and managing the message board. And lots more. We have come a LONG way; it has been a lot of work and very time consuming, and sometimes stressful. But it never felt like real work because of my passion for F.A.S.T. Racing.
Why did I quit the board? I just had to set priorities. Besides all my work on the F.AS.T. board, I am also raising 3 kids aged 12-17, running my own business, I am on the Board of Education, I serve on our Church Council, and I am Vice Chairman of a self insured pool of 65 contractors. Lots of commitments for my limited time and energy. When the construction economy around here crashed, I just had to cut back on non-essential expenses and time commitments, and focus on rejuvenating my business. And it is paying off, things here are turning around despite the construction slump.
I am glad that there are still some of you guys out there working hard to keep this thing going. A huge thanks to Greg, Terry, and Dave!
Hopefully next year I will have the GTX back on the track, at least for a couple of events, banging gears and clicking off 10's! But from now on, I am just one of the racers, no more F.A.S.T. board for me.
Bye for now,
Joel

Re: Joel Nystrom Resignation
I imagine its tough to step down but in the end if you feel is the right thing to do, it is.
Thanks for what you helped FAST become and I'm sure we will see you next season.
