Re: F.A.S.T. Class @ Stock Appearing Drags Nov 10th
I hope the long distance guys got home safe and sound. Having the event canceled was a major bummer.
Quite a few guys were at the track at 9am and several more left their trailers inside raceway park. So to make the best of a bad situation we decided to setup the BBQ's and cook / heat up some of the food that people brought. Funny thing (!?) was that after 8:30 am it never rained and later on in the day about 2:00 (Yes we were still there BSing) the sun even broke thru.
So we had a good bench racing session with some good hot food. November is a tough month, it was snowing by my house and 1/3 of the trip to the track. I did get to try out my new enclosed trailer, I was glad to have it!

Congrats Tom and Dave for the new "Bests" on Friday night.
Glad you guys at least had a few passes Friday before the rain.

Re: F.A.S.T. Class @ Stock Appearing Drags Nov 10th
I think Etown treated us poorly no regard for those who travelled a long ways to race.At 2.30 Am there was no rain by 7.30 the light rain had stopped and at 8.00 they call it. I was appalled by the lack of effort to even try to get the the event run.I saw a guy with Fla plates get turned away with next to no explination as to why just a thumbs down from a security guard. I say another track be used one who will actually work with us not ignore us Atco or Maplegrove or somplace else. At least the Minn gang didn't get burned . It is a first class track with second rate management at best in my oppinion. They are a joke .I have never seen an event dumped on like that with so little rain over a 5 hour period.I really doubt I will ever go back without getting my arm twisted or at least a long winter to help me forget.

Re: F.A.S.T. Class @ Stock Appearing Drags Nov 10th
it does suck that they call the race, especially for those of you that traveled so far. but remember gonzo didnt rent the track they were adding you to a day of racing, with cars other than fast too. they should have let you in and asked those who were there what they wanted to do. but if they did run and the track was bad anf you wreck you 40 to 50k investment then it would have been there fault. it a double edge sword. dammed if you do....
but for 2008 there should be rain dates.i am sure other tracks would love to have fast and f/s cars there, e-mail any in your erea, it doesnt hurt to ask.i tried cecil last year but the owner only cars about the o-mighty buck. jam as much in, in a day. he also rents track on saturdays, but your not the only ones there, he sometimes brings in his promod buddies for what seems like promod driving school. acto has had some events like nmra and sprayed and dragged both lanes, hook was like a magnet to a fridge.

Steve, I think it sucks that you guys drove all that way.
( It's funny how history repeats itself ) The long distance guys always get robbed. With all the hype , why wasn't there a raindate ?
I hope next year there will be better planning so this will not happen again.

Re: F.A.S.T. Class @ Stock Appearing Drags Nov 10th
Yes it really sucked for ALL of us, that ALL of the NJ tracks made the same decision to close. The weather looked worse than it turned out. I feel bad for Dave who has worked hard all year and is finally in the best position to take home the gold, only to get cheated by weather. Sorry Dave.
Why wasn't there a raindate?? Because the track closes the next week and there is no time for one at this time of the year. To make things Clear...Myself or Walter do not make decisions on closing the track, if it was up to us we would have run the race even in a blizzard. There is alot of money that goes into promoting one of these events, much more than some can even imagine. It is money lost .....not gained...somebody posted about Raceway Park only caring about money. Could you please explain how closing the track and making Zero money, nets them more than opening to 100 paying customers in FAST & F/S ?? When you figure that out, you let me know.
In either case My apologies to everyone on the weather, but it rained all the way from Long Island to the track, and we were there at 7AM waiting for the Announcement whether it was a go or not, and got the decision at 7AM, tried to call as many of you that I have phone numbers for. If I forgot you I am sorry. But I was trying to re-negoitiate the opening of the track on the phone which obviously failed. They expected bad weather until at least noon, is what I was told, and like Greg said, there was actually Snow to the northwest of the track! It sucks for all involved. We have gotten lucky at Englishtown the past 3 1/2 years, running 3 events a year and no rain. Our time was up I guess.
