New Guy

I'm from the west coast, California and Nevada. I go back and forth. I have been following this series for years and last year (2012) I rode my motorcycle to Martin to watch. I have to say it was the best car event I have ever been too. The cars were gorgeous and I was treated so kindly by everybody I spoke to.
I got to meet all the guys I read about in HMM and MCR and see there cars, it was an absolute thrill for me. The level of the cars far exceeded what I had imagined, and to see them racing was really unbelievable. The only thing they do with cars out here just half as nice as yours, is sit behind them in a lawn chair.
I have a 1970 Camaro with a crate LS-6 in it and a 1970 El Camino with a crate LS-6 in it as well. I'm retired now and I'm working on making my Camaro a F.A.S.T car and the Elky a clone SS LS-6 Pure Stocker. I'm hoping to have the Camaro ready for 2014 and I will make a vacation out of it. I can't think of anything more fun to do. Thank you all for such a great time.

That is some serious dedication, I applaud you sir. Building two cars, one for each series to boot! Hoping that we both make it next year. (2014)

Welcome. I'm pretty sure we talked at the Martin race last year. I have the red 73 340 Duster. I was amazed you rode all the way from California.
Sounds like some nice cars in your garage.

Re: New Guy

You guys are right. I talked to just about everybody at Martin that weekend. I was trying to educate myself and like I said before. I have never been around such a pleasant bunch of car fanatics in my life. Thank you all for such a great experience.
I'm working on my 70 Camaro. It's your typical never any rust central Calif. car. I have a lot of work to do to convert it from the street, strip drag car that it is into a F.A.S.T car. I guess I have to take the Z-28 badging off and turn it into a SS-396 clone car? It also has an 8 point roll bar in it. Which I'm under the impression I can leave in? It also has a 9" in it which I know has to go. The interior is pretty much stock except for the shifter, I'm going to have to find one of those. And the 4" hood has to go as well.
I've never tried running fast on a F or G-70 tire and I'm sure all the guys at Sacramento Raceway will get a laugh out of that on test and tune night. I'm sure I won't be required to have that role bar. Thanks for the welcome.

Re: New Guy

Just a thought on your roll bar, you only need a 5pt for 10.00 - 11.49, might want to remove any unnecessary bars to shave weight.

You are correct on the changes to the hood and emblems. As for tires, I think you would run G60s on that car. (Someone correct me if I am wrong)

Post up some pictures when you get a chance.
