Re: Factory Stock 4 speed guys...
They were at 106cc when I got them. Then the new compression rule came out... after I had bought and installed pistons.
I went back to my machinist and we deemed the heads could be milled another 6cc safely. The valves don't hang out of the chambers at all.
The valves touch when I installed a stock length pushrod with a solid lifter to check swipe. I adjusted my length checker .100" shorter and they still touched. Something isn't right. I am going to get the long block back over to my machinist and tear the heads back off. (next month) Might need to fly cut the valve reliefs slightly bigger. Or... switch to a thicker head gasket. I degreed the cam, and it checked in dead nuts on to the cam card. (Crane blueprint camshaft)

Re: Factory Stock 4 speed guys...
I obviously figured out my PTV issue, let's just say it was a dumb mistake on my part. I need more sleep than I have been getting. Engine/transmission are going back in the car tomorrow.

Re: Factory Stock 4 speed guys...
Got the engine/transmission back in the car the next day...
Then used the engine weight to install new coil springs. I got it back on all four wheels and pushed it out of the way. I have limited work space, needed the room for another project. I have a 72' Monte Carlo I am going to sell, currently doing some detailing to the underside and fixing a few minor things.
The silver lining is that I live in Florida, and it doesn't snow here. So, I can virtually work on it year round. Cliff has my QJet, I believe he told me to expect around six months to rebuild it... that puts me right at late December, early January.

Re: Factory Stock 4 speed guys...
Still not running, but VERY close! Currently hindered by a work injury, tore some ligaments in my arm last month. The Monte Carlo sold about three weeks ago. (one less project to worry about)
Here is how the car sits currently
Got my carburetor back from Cliff in March. Pretty much have every last part I need. Once it is running, needs a front end alignment and an exhaust system. And I'll be contacting Rusty for some tires shortly after.

I suppose an aftermarket driveshaft is a no go too?
Aftermarket driveshaft is OK as long as it's the same material as a factory one.

Re: Factory Stock 4 speed guys...
I ended up cleaning up the factory one and installing new u-joints about a year ago. It is back under the car as of yesterday.

Re: Factory Stock 4 speed guys...
That driveshaft should be fine. Just keep fresh U-joints in it.
