Re: 2011 Factory Stock Rules?

Dave, why does F.A.S.T. have to follow a rule that allows high compression pistons and 1.5 c.r. over advertised compression in "pure(?) stock"? You guys have six races a year and they have only one. How many of those "fish" attend F.A.S.T.'s Factory Stock races except for the one in their back yard?

A '68 Pontiac RA II has 10.75 advertised c.r. and 1.5 over would raise the c.r. to 12.25 to 1. The maximum attainable c.r. for a '68 RA II built to AMA (or NHRA) specs with a .070 overbore and legal flat top pistons with (4) valve reliefs is 11.65 to 1. The new rule would allow domed pistons to increase the c.r. another .6 points for this engine! And they call this "pure stock"?

Wyane is absolutely right, .5 c.r. over advertised would be a more reasonable limit for a blueprinted "pure stock". Why not put it to a vote (isn't this the American way)?

Can't say I disagree with any of the above! Seems to me it's been made a lot more difficult than it needs to be...but what do I know.

As far as cars running at the top, the L88 Vette`s get to add compression from where their at and anything with a Hemi has to lower the compression from the NHRA number. Makes perfect sense. emoticon

It looks to me like the 69 L88 loses .2 allowable....

You can't be serious...since when did the NHRA's compression number for a Hemi suddently become relevant ? emoticon
