2011 PSMCDR Rules posted at v8buick

brought over from the v8buick site.
quote:

Dear Pure Stockers,

We have finalized some of the rule changes for the 2011 event. It has been a long drawn out process and we thank everyone for being patient with us.

We will also be handing out the rule changes for 2011 at this year’s event. All right, lets get started with the initial changes.

We no longer will be using NHRA as a guideline for maximum compression ratio at the Pure Stock Drags. We will be using our own PSMCDR maximum compression level chart. Starting in 2011 you will only be allowed to run 1.5 points over advertised compression.

We no longer will allow after market ignition boxes period. We have made the decision to eliminate them all together because of participants using them for traction control and timing dial back while making runs. Manual cars will have to change to a under the distributor cap rev limiter like Crane, Accel, etc, etc.

We no longer will allow roller tip rockers of any kind. We also made this decision based on some participants getting way too creative with their camshafts. But we also believe that a few roller cams are being used. By eliminating the roller tip rockers participants will no longer be able to push their valve trains beyond the factory stock limits. We also did some research on the availability of stamped / cast rockers and found out the majority of the participants will have no problem getting them. But a few participants might have to find good used ones. Some participants have already had to go down this path with no problems at all using them.

We also will be implementing a new rule for 2011. The new rule will be called, (Banned From The Race Rule) If we suspect that you are using light weight internal parts in the engine or drive train, or we have any other issues with your car, you will be asked to come in the following year, prior to the race, and go through an inspection tear down process to prove you are complying with the rules. If you refuse to do so, you will be banned from the race until you do.

Also for 2011 maximum valve spring seat pressure will be held to 130 psi. Higher seat pressures will require factory documentation.

Automatic torque converters will be held to a maximum 2200 rpm stall. Torque converters must be within one inch of O.E.M. diameter. Higher stall rpm will require factory documentation.

Alright, some of you might say, what happened to the grassroots event that we talked about a few weeks back? Well, maybe the word grassroots wasn't the word to use back then. I guess at that time we were so frustrated with the whole thing, that we just wanted to go back and wipe the slate clean and start all over again. But we realized after sixteen years of participants building their cars to comply with the rules, it would be a total event suicide to drastically change the rules. We tried to make rule changes that would least effect the majority. Plus, we could still financially survive, and have complete control of moving the event forward into the future. So if your not part of the solution on keeping the event going, you must be part of the problem. So Pure Stockers, take a long look at your car and ask yourself, what can I do to help keep the event alive. Is it really worth pushing the rules until the event evaporates right in front of all of our eyes? Look, were just two guys and a drag race, and that's how it all started. Lets all pull together again, and give us a chance to proudly offer to you one of the best musclecar events ever.

Sincerely,
Bob Boden

 emoticon

12.5 + 1.5 for a L88 = 14:1

11 + 1.5 for 427 L72 = 12.5

11.25 + 1.5 for 454 LS6 = 12.75

10.25 + 1.5 for the 426 Street Hemi = 11.75:1

I thought the NHRA figures were fine, but hey, it's their race, not mine.

No doubt there will be some major shuffling of engine parts going on before September.

Too many broken calculators figuring out compression. Ya, they are all high with the new rule but at least it's a hard number.

You may not like what you see in the water but at least it is clear!
