Maybee just a stupid question
I know I am new to F.A.S.T but why is there not a diffrent small block and big block class. It seems to me that the small block guys would get dicouraged trying to run against usually much larger engines.I wonder if more small block racers would build cars and show up if they had a better chance to compete with similar cars.I am not complaing just wondering.

Re: Maybee just a stupid question
Not a stupid question.
We have looked into this before. Some of the reasons that it was never done was:
1). Not enough cars to slipt the field into two.
2). What is a small block and what is a big block? Take the 326 Pontiac engine, small block?, yet in FAST the 326 owner can legally use a 455 block as all the Pontiac blocks have the same external dimentions.
3). Checking actual CID would be time and labor intensive at events.
4). Most of the competing small block owners really enjoy beating up on the big blocks.

Re: Maybee just a stupid question
It sounds like there are more small block cars being built to race and maybee more would show if the thought they could be more competitive . Most engines are very noticable to being big block or small block on the Pontiacs it is a problem .I know that beating a big block would feal great with a small block but I think that a lot of people are turning it up a notch this year and make it even more difficult for the small block guys.Maybee if more than 8 small block cars show they get their own top 8 runoffs and if there is less than 8 they get rolled in with everyone else.Just a thought not a complaint I know nothing is ever perfect and you can't make everyone happy .Thanks for having made what it is now.

Re: Maybee just a stupid question
Sorry, I haven't been on in a while with work and the holidays. Another problem with spliting the field is supercharged cars. Even at 300-330 cubic inches, is the car a still a small block with a factory power adder? I just look at this as a power-to-weight event and will do as much peddling as I can.
