Re: f/s rules clarification
Well I re-read the rules on the PSMCD site and most things say must be correct for the engine and horsepower claimed, which is fine in specification but there are "replacement" style stock sized parts that are a marked improvement over factory like stainless, tulip cut valves, lighter retainers, etc. and this one:
Camshaft: The camshaft must be correct for the model, year, and horsepower claimed for duration, lift, and type of lifter
I read that as EXACTLY the factory ground specs for my 325hp 350 Olds, no deviation.
I have the engine torn down now and would like to build it as improved as I can while being legal.

Re: f/s rules clarification
Yes, and if you read the link that tells what they check to get "certified", it gets even more specific. After reading both the rules & the Certification links on the Pure Stock Drags site, I am impressed and baffled how these cars are over (2) seconds quicker and 7 - 10 MPH faster in the quarter mile than they were stock, back in the day. Can anyone share any helpfull info to my 1971 340 factory stock build, to make it not too embarresing to these cars? Thanks.

Re: f/s rules clarification
40 years of testing and tuning is why they go faster today.
And a 71 340 is a good package. What does it run now? Tell us about it.

Re: f/s rules clarification
ok back to the rules again. I hit the link for certification and now I'm more confused. It looks like absolutley NO changes from factory are allowed in valvetrain (if I'm reading it right) and NHRA is of no real help for the specific questions i have either.
I guess I'll build it my way and hope I can be quick enough for it to matter.

Dave, old post... I know. Is this still a valid # for you? And is the offer still open? I have a few questions concering my build. Haven't found a set of cylinder heads cores yet, but trying to get my ducks in a row for when I am able to find a set.
